For a long time, I have felt like there was something missing in my life.  But what?  Diamonds?  Well yes, but one can live without those.  Vast riches?  Nah, I have a roof over my head, food in my stomach, and the sexiest 55″, 240 Hz, 3D LED television a girl could ask for.  A pool boy named Enrique to feed me chocolates?  Unless he looks like Daniel Craig, don’t even bother.

Then I realized what it was: A place to share my love of baking with the world.

Well, I don’t know if “love” is really the proper word.  It’s more of an extreme need.  You see, I may or may not be just a wee bit “high maintenance.”  A little “high strung,” some may say.  I realized this years ago, and rather than turn to teenage angsty rebellion, I honed my baking skills like mad.  I’d come home from dance team practice, put The Little Mermaid in the VCR, and whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookies.  (Yes, I said VCR.  Shut up.  At least I didn’t say Beta Max.)

Now, several years later, I have all new stresses in life: I’m an attorney.  Hah!  Probably not the best choice for a high maintenance, high strung kind of gal, but I love my job and it pays the bills.  However, it is also very, very high stress.  Not to mention how stressful the process of getting there was…but law school was a very special hell for another day and another post.

Rather than take up drinking or develop a coke and hookers habit, I bake.  Well, I want to bake.  Finding the time can be rather difficult.  That’s where this blog comes in.  If even one person (Bestie, here’s looking at you) reads this thing, then I’ll feel like I have to bake.  The more I bake, the less stress there is.  Life has been very stressful lately.  I need to bake more.

Here’s how I envision this blog going down: It will be my place to share my creations, share my thoughts, share recipes (well, at least some…I will take my pie crust recipe to the grave), and share tips.  Maybe even share thoughts on non-baking life.  But don’t expect too much of that.

Here’s what you will never find on here: Gluten free, vegan anything.  I am a firm believer in gluten and butter.  The currently fashionable rebellion against gluten and dairy makes me sad face.

But I digress.

Why is my blog called “The Professional Stress Baker”?  No, I am not a professional baker.  But I am a professional with a baking habit.  I’m pretty sure I can’t be the only one.

Today is the first cool day in a while, so there hasn’t been much baking lately.  But as a preview of coming attractions, I bring you my trademark creation: butter crust pie.  Till we meet again…
